final fantasy 7

Cait Sith was originally a character from the Playstation RPG (Role Playing Game) videogame Final Fantasy VII, produced by Squaresoft (which had its name changed to Square-Enix in 2001). For more info, you can go here.

When the party (in that part of the game is Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII) arrive to Gold Saucer, which is some kind of casino/funfair (?), they meet a very strange guy. His name is Cait Sith, and he's nothing less than a black and white robot cat (a toysaurus), dressed with a red cape, red boots and a crown, sitting on a huge white plushy of a Mog. He presents himself as a fortune teller, and he tells Cloud that he would find what he seeks, but also lose something dear. Cait himself is pretty interested in finding out what will happen, and joins the party just because of that. (?)

That night, there is a massacre in the Gold Saucer. Trails of blood cover all the place, and everyone suspects that Barret did it, because of his modified arm. The truth is that our dear enemy Sephiroth did it, but no one knows at this time, and our party is sent to Corel Prison, which is just below the Gold Saucer (??) Of course, they have to escape from there, but first they have to find Barret. As he is not with you, you will need someone strong to aid you in battle... thankfully, Cait is there. He decides to help you, and joins your party.

After you leave this place, nothing really interesting happens (Cait-wise, that's it). However, some time later in the game you are looking for the Keystone, and this quest leads you to Gold Saucer again. They find it, and when leaving Cloud and friends find out that the machine to go back to Corel Station is broken, but thanks to Cait Sith's contacts, they can spend the night there. That night, Cloud dates Tifa, Aerith or Yuffie (it depends on how you've treated them). When they come back, they see Cait Sith running around... with the Keystone. After trying to catch him for some time, he finally reveals that he's actually a spy from ShinRa, controlled by a man called Reeve, the head of the Department of Urban Development in Midgar. His reason for joining the party was to prevent them from succeeding in their mission -destroy ShinRa and all-, and to make things worse he has kidnapped Aerith's mother and Marlene (Barret's adopted daughter). They have no choice but let him stay in the party.

However, Caity regrets what he did and he comes back when the Ancient Ruins are going to be destroyed: someone has to stay there and be destroyed, and Cait Sith is perfect for this matter: as he's a robot, he can be destroyed and have a new body. So he 'dies' (while he says 'I can also save the Planet!'... that's scene is sooo cute!), but comes back 5 seconds later announcing he's Cait Sith #2. Meanwhile, Reeve eventually stops following some orders, and finally he decides to join AVALANCHE and betray ShinRa in hiding, of course. The other characters don't believe in him, but Tifa and Cloud finally do, and they eventually they persuade the other members of the party to leave him stay.

After that and near the end of the game, Cait and Reeve become the brain of the team, because he's a robot, and also because he knows a lot about ShinRa.
