before crisis
Before Crisis is a
cellphone game which was released in 2004, in Japan only, by a subscription
system. Because of this, the game was divided in 24 episodes, plus some special
ones revealing the past of some characters.
The story is set years before the beginning of the original game, and stands in a total different side. Here we are the Turks, the special group within Shinra whose members dress in black, and our enemy is the original AVALANCHE (the one in FFVII is the second one). We learn about the differences of these groups: the first one was much more violent and ruthless.
The player is able to control different characters through the episodes, all of them new and nameless. There are also brief apparitions of other known characters, such as Zack, Cloud, Sephiroth, Azul and Shalua from Dirge of Cerberus, and others.
The game has different modes, such as Free Play or WEAPON, and minigames, such as the popular Chocobo Racing and Battle Square in Gold Saucer.
