Kinomoto Sakura is a 10-ten-old school girl who lives with her father and brother, pretty ordinary until you get to know she is a card captor. She finds the Clow Book in her house, with cards stored inside of it. When she reads one of them (Windy), all the others spread out around the city. She also releases Kero. This little yellow creature is actually Kerberos, the guardian of the cards sealed in the book. He tells her that now her mission is to catch the 19 Clow Cards (48 in the anime) before they cause trouble to other people. However, she is not alone, because her best friend, Daidouji Tomoyo (a girl who loves filming her) is always there to make customs for her adventures (!), and Kero, giving advice on her new task.

Sakura is cheerful, kind, and absent-minded. She loves PE and hates Maths. For some time, she has been in love with her brother's "best friend", Tsukishiro Yukito. The problem is when a new student is introduced in her class: Li Syaoran, a descendant of Clow Reed. This boy also has a crush on Yukito (!!) and rivals with her because of that, and because he also wants to catch the Clow Cards. In the beginning he is very rude to her, but slowly he starts falling for her, and they become very good friends. As if this weren't enough, they have a new teacher, Mizuki Kaho. Sakura goes crazy whenever she sees her, but Syaoran doesn't like her at all, for some reason...

Then it comes the Final Judgement. After sealing all the cards, Sakura has to face the "Judge" and that is Yue (the Moon guardian of the Cards, while Kero is the Sun). The little detail is that he is actually Yukito. After being victorius, she still likes him. Some months later, she has yet another new companion: Hiiragizawa Eriol (and yes, Syaoran doesn't like him) Now she has to turn all the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards, something that tires her a lot. The point is, that Syaoran finally realizes that he is in love with her (it was time!!), but she has no idea. Then Sakura has to defeat Eriol (who reveals himself as the reincarnation of Clow Reed) The anime and manga have different versions of this part (well, actually they're different in many other aspects too); in the animated version Syaoran tells Sakura he likes her, she realizes that she does too, so goes to the airport and he gives her a teddy bear, but Sakura doesn't answer. However, in the manga, she is able to say she likes him, and it's shown how they meet years later and finally get together.
