a tiny feather of love

Before explaining about Sakura's persona in this series, let's make something clear. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is an elseworld (characters from other series in a different story), where almost all CLAMP characters appear. It started in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine (Air Gear is serialized there too) on May 21st 2003.

But we cannot talk about this manga without mentioning XXXholic (published in the Young Magazine of Kodansha since 24th February 2003). In this story, Watanuki Kimihiro is a boy who can see ghosts, but hates this ability, so he starts working for Ichihara Yuuko, a beautiful (and strange) witch who grants wishes to people in exchange of something else. XXXholic has been adapted to an anime, and it also has a movie: Manatsu no Yoru no Yume (a Midsummer's Night Dream).

In Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Sakura is the princess of the Clow Kingdom, and her brother Touya is the King, while Yukito is a mage helping him. She has been a very close friend of Syaoran, who now is the son of an archaeologist, since they were little. At the beginning of the story, she is in love with him. One night, Sakura walks unconscious to the ruins Syaoran is working at. In that moment, wings spread out from her back. The 'bad guy' of the story (later is revealed that his name is Fei Wong Reed) appears to steal them, but Syaoran prevents him from doing so. The problem is that the wings are broken, all the feathers spread out and Sakura faints. Yukito explains that those wings were Sakura's power to travel between different universes, but without them, she will die. So he uses his power to send them to another universe, where Yuuko (here we are in XXXholic) gives them a Mokona (the same as in Magic Knight Rayearth), and introduces other 2 new characters: Fye D. Fluorite, and Kurogane. So the group starts travelling across the different universes, where they hope to find all Sakura's feathers. Slowly, she wakes up and starts remembering, but her role in the story is more as a "protected princess" than "the independent girl" she is in CCS.
